BLOG 6: NATAL AND HOSTEL ALBERGUE

Natal has been well worth the wait. We are staying in an area south of the city, called Ponta Negra, with a long stretch of beautiful beach framed by giant sand dunes.

Like Rio, the beach is lined by a boardwalk with vendors selling coconut water (YUMM-O!), people riding bikes (yes, still wearing small white speedos) and lots of surfers.

Unlike Rio, this beach however also has a colonial horse-riding policeman, complete with brimmed hat and rifle. At least we think he's a cop, though he will let you take his photo for a small fee. In our innocence, we snapped this shot from afar...

We are staying at Hostel Alberque de Costa, which we have quickly settled into as our home. Enrique owns the place- great guy, and the rest of the staff are not only kind, but they speak English!!! This has been really helpful in planning further adventures (see next blog). The hostel has a great LITTLE bar, a nice kitchen, and a covered area that is perfect for morning yoga and afternoon hammock napping.

We have no fears coming home at night as we have our beautiful "blonde" guard dog, aptly named Sharon Stone...
